London Day & Night from matel on Vimeo.

I wanted to make a video of London, a city where I lived a few years ago, and had the chance to go back in January. I wanted to continue exploring the diptych theme and thought day & night could make a nice comparison.

Here is my previous splitscreen work of Paris & NY: vimeo.com/108552265

Shot on a Sony A7Rii and edited with Lightroom, After Effects and Premiere. It was a challenge to shoot in London with a tripod but managed most of the time 🙂

Music by Tony Anderson

Special thanks to Nathalie, Kirki Gini and Mathieu Roy for taking part and helping me with the project.

New Final Cut Pro X 10.3 – Flow Transition to Fix Jump Cuts in Dialogue Edits #fcpx #videoedting

If you are creating video tutorials or other edits where you are removing areas of dialogue but don’t want to use a cutaway then using the Flow Transition is an awesome option. It will smoothly transition between to edit points using Final Cut Pro X’s optical flow frame blending.

Photoshop: Vectors & Shapes for Beginners – Class Introduction from Ben Halsall on Vimeo.

Hello! In this class you will develop your knowledge of working with the vector shape tools. The great advantage of designing with shapes is that they are 100% scaleable. This means that you can design something for the size of a postage stamp but scale up that design to a large billboard poster.

What You’ll Learn

You will learn the essential skills you need to create, manipulate and combine shapes in Adobe Photoshop. This lesson is one of several classes I’ve created about the shape tools in Photoshop but it is the most in depth. If you only have a few minutes to play you might want to check out my ‘Pen Tool Abstracts’ or ‘Create Nodes’ classes which give you an insight into what is possible.

What is covered:
Setting Up a Project
Creating Basic Shapes Like Rectangles & Circles
Aligning Shapes & Creating Grids
Rotating & Scaling Shapes
Modifying & Transforming with the Direct Selection Tool
Duplicating Shapes
Combining Shapes with the Pathfinder Tools
Creating Arrows
Creating Banners
Create a Perspective Grid
Create a Heart Shape
Create a Teardrop Shape
Create Custom Frames
Using Built in Shapes
Type as Shapes
